Cream of Maize Flapjacks
Ingredients
- 1 cup of Ace Cream of Maize
- 1 egg
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1 heaped teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
- 1 tablespoon of melted butter or margarine
- Pinch of salt
Method
- Place Ace Cream of Maize into a mixing bowl
- Add the sugar, baking powder and salt
- Add the egg, melted butter or margarine and milk
- Mix well using an electric hand mixer or whisk to avoid lumps
- Add the vanilla essence
- Mix well to make a batter
- Rest the mixture for at least 30 minutes
- Heat a frying pan
- Grease the frying pan with Spray & Cook or butter or margarine and heat the pan
- Add approximately ¼ cup of batter into the hot pan and cook on one side then flip it over to cook the other side
- Serve whilst warm with honey, jam, preserves, whipped cream and fruit or ice-cream
Variations
For preferred consistency you can vary water level and cooking time.
